This is a Guide for YUL staff to help identify scripts and which selector they belong to.

Scripts not displaying?

Hint: if some fonts aren't displaying:

  1. View this page in firefox or chrome.
  2. Make sure the browser character encoding is UTF-8
  3. Else: look at the language name page in Omniglot

Common languages at YUL

  • Chinese characters can be used for these languages:
    • Simplified Chinese:我的气垫船充满了鳝鱼
    • Traditional Chinese:我的氣墊船裝滿鱔魚
    • Japanese [East Asia]
    • Korean [East Asia]
    • Vietnamese [Southeast Asia]
    • Han Nom [Southeast Asia]
  • Japanese language [East Asia] uses a combination of multiple alphabets and character sets:
    • Modern Japanese: 私のホバークラフトは鰻でいっぱいです
  • Korean language [East Asia] is written using: 
    • Hangul: 내 호버크라프트는 장어로 가득 차 있어요
