Borrow Direct is a rapid delivery service that allows you to search and obtain books from 8 of the largest academic libraries in the country - for free.
When do I use it?
If you can't check out a book or monograph right now at Yale, or if Yale doens't own it, then you can request it through Borrow Direct.
How long does it take?
Borrow Direct requests arrive within four business days. Often, they are here within two.
How long can I keep materials?
Items are checked out for six weeks at a time, with one renewal. Items may be due sooner if recalled by the lending library.
Borrow Direct
Borrow Direct is a service that allows Yale patrons to check the availability of and request books from the combined catalogs of Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Penn, Brown, and MIT within four business days. It can be used to obtain items that are currently unavailable for checkout at Yale, not held by the Yale library, or on course reserve. The service, open exclusively to Yale students, faculty, and staff, can be used to request up to five volumes from a multivolume work, or any available printed books or musical scores deemed eligible by the lending library.
