Creating a Proxy

Yale faculty may authorize another person to be able to check out materials out of the library on their behalf.  Faculty wishing to initiate the Proxy authorization should fill out the proxy agreement form and turn it in at any on of the following areas

  • Privileges Office (located in the Nave of Sterling Memorial Library)
  • Circulation desk of Divinity Library
  • Circulation desk of the Center for Science and Social Science Information (CSSSI)

Faculty may designate up to two research assistants per semester to use the proxy service.  This proxy authorization will permit faculty to send an assistant to pick up library materials to be used by the faculty member. Proxies may not use this service to checkout library materials for their own personal use. Proxies may not request books on behalf of the faculty member using the proxy account.

Faculty members are personally responsible for any charges assessed to their account for library materials damaged or lost while checked out under this proxy service.
