This is a Guide for YUL staff to help identify scripts and which selector they belong to.

Scripts not displaying?

Hint: if some fonts aren't displaying:

  1. View this page in firefox or chrome.
  2. Make sure the browser character encoding is UTF-8
  3. Else: look at the language name page in Omniglot

Common languages at YUL

  • Devanagari can be used for these languages, plus others:
    • Sanskrit: कालो ऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत् प्रवृद्धो लोकान् समाहर्तुम् इह प्रवृत्तः ।
    • Hindi: मेरी मँडराने वाली नाव सर्पमीनों से भरी हैं
    • Hindi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Marathi, Nepali, Pali, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Sindhi, etc. [South Asia]
  • Bengali can be used for these languages, plus others:
    • আমার হভারক্রাফ্ট ইল-এ ভর্তি হয়ে গেছে
    • Bengali, Assamese, Manipuri, etc. [South Asia]
  • Gujarati can be used for these languages:
    • એક ભાષા ક્યારેય પણ પુરતી નથી
    • Gujarati, Kutchi [South Asia]
  • Punjabi (Gurmukhi) can be used for :
    • ਲਹੌਰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਦਾਰੁਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਐ।
    • Punjabi [South Asia]
  • Tibetan can be used for:
    • ངའི་རླུང་འདེགས་གྲུ་གཟིངས་ནི་ཉ་མན་ལི་ཡིས་གང་གི་འདུག །
    • Tibetan [East Asia, South Asia]
    • Dzongkha (Bhutanese), Sikkimese [South Asia]
