Is the first collection of diverse materials on LGBTQ topics, including such controversial issues as sodomy and bestiality, as well as bishōnen and the phenomenon of cross-dressing in pre-war Japan. The edited volumes primarily contain important articles from journals and newspapers, covering the Meiji, Taishō and early Shōwa periods.

The collection consists of fliers, newsletters, brochures, and other educational material published and distributed by Japanese lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) organizations, primarily from the Tokyo area. Materials focus on gay and bisexual men's health, sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention and testing, and community activities for HIV positive individuals. The collection includes publications documenting bars and clubs, community spaces and support services, art and cultural events, and political activism, as well as newsletters from over thirty LGBTQ organizations located in Tokyo and other regions of Japan. Materials date from 1993 to 2016.

このコレクションは日本、主に東京首都圏の性的少数派 （ＬＧＢＴＱ: レズビアン、ゲイ、バイセクシュアル、トランスジェンダー、そしてクィア）などの団体によって２０００年代から現在までに配布されたチラシ、ニュースレター、パンフレットなどの収集を目的とする。最初のシリーズにはゲイやバイセクシャルの男性の健康、ＨＩＶなどの性感染症（ＳＴＩ）の予防とテスト、および生活とコミュニティを取り巻く資料が含まれ、広範な内容となっている。それに加えゲイやバイセクシャルの男性に主に焦点を当てたバーやクラブ、コミュニティスペースと支援、芸術や文化イベント、および政治的行動のための出版物で構成されている。第二シリーズは３０以上の東京及び他の地域からで活動しているＬＧＢＴＱ団体のニュースレターが収められる。

The Queer Japan Web Archive of the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation is a joint initiative by librarians for Japanese Studies at Brown, Columbia, Duke, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale Universities and the University of Pennsylvania, with support from Dr. Yoshie Yanagihara (Tokyo Denki University), Dr. Tetsuyuki Shida (Waseda University), and Patrick Carland (University of Pennsylvania). The Archive aims to preserve websites created by non-profit Japanese organizations which research, advocate for, support, and provide services to LGBTQ communities. The non-profit organizations included in the Archive provide social services for LGBTQ communities throughout Japan, such as quality of life services, real estate, employment, educational assistance, helplines, workshops, mental health services, information about sexually transmitted diseases, and legal information. From May 2020 onward, the project members expanded their collecting scope to include websites created by university clubs, the municipalities that recognize same-sex partnerships, and organizers of LGBTQ-related parades and local events. By archiving these websites, the Confederation strives to guarantee that these potentially ephemeral websites are preserved and remain browsable by researchers and scholars.

「クィア ジャパン ウェブ アーカイブ」（日本の 多様な性（LGBTQ）に関するウェブサイトの収蔵）プロジェクトは、アイビー・プラス図書館連合の傘下で、ブラウン、コロンビア、デューク、ハーバード、プリンストン、イェール、ペンシルベニア各大学の日本研究 ライブラリアンの共同イニシアティブで運営されます。同プロジェクトは、柳原良江氏（東京電機大学）と志田哲之氏（早稲田大学）による学術的なサポートを受けて、日本の非営利団体 によるLGBTQコミュニティの研究、権利擁護、支援、サービス提供を目的として作成されたウェブサイトの収集と保全を目指しています。対象としている非営利団体が行っているLGBTQ コミュニティの支援サービスには、生活の質向上、不動産、雇用、教育援助、ヘルプライン、 ワークショップ、メンタルヘルス、HIV / AIDSのような性感染症、そして法律関係の情報などが含まれます。２０２０年５月から収集内容を拡大し、大学のLGBTQ関連のサークル、そして同性パートナーシップ制度導入を支援する自治体のウェブサイトの収集も開始しました。同連合は、これらの潜在的に消滅の可能性に晒されているウェブサイトの収集、保全に努め、研究者がこれらのサイトを探索可能な状態を常に維持することに、万全を期します。
