Articles+: Support

Articles+

Articles+ provides an efficient way to search across newspaper articles, reference works such as encyclopedias, books, and book chapters, images, dissertations, conference proceedings, patents, and even Yale University Library Course and Subject Guides. This includes many popular published packages, such as ScienceDirect, JSTOR, HeinOnline, Sage, and SpringerNature.

Some Yale-licensed resources are not compatible with Articles+ and cannot be searched there. To confirm whether a resource is or is not indexed in Articles+, please contact E-Resources.

Limiting Search Results

Facets

Quickly and easily limit search results using facets on the left of the display: limit by content type, discipline, publication date, subject terms, and language. Popular limits are listed at the top of the list, including a filter for peer-reviewed journals and full text.

Phrase Searching

By default, Articles+ looks for records with every term in a search. To find articles with an exact phrase, use quotation marks. For example, a search for:

honeybee colony collapse

will find records with these three words anywhere in the record, not necessarily together. A search for:

"honeybee colony collapse"

will return far fewer records, and the records will contain the exact phrase "honeybee colony collapse"

Excluding Facets

To exclude a specific facet or facets from your search, hover over the Facet with your mouse and click the "Exclude" link next to the facet. Articles+ will refresh your search results.

Field Searching

Limit a search to words in specific fields using either the "Options" (formerly "Advanced") search or use this syntax:

field:(query)

These fields are searchable:

  • Author
  • Title
  • Publication Title
  • Subject Terms
  • Abstract
  • DOI
  • ISBN
  • ISSN
  • Edition
  • Full Text
  • Genre
  • Geographic Location
  • Issue
  • OCLC Number
  • ORCID
  • Patent Number
  • PMID
  • Publisher
  • Series
  • Time Period
  • Volume

For example, look for the article Why Most Published Research Findings Are False using:

title:(Why Most Published Research Findings Are False)

Working With Citations

A range of options are available from the brief and full display of a record, including permalinks (stable links), cite/email/save a record, and the ability to export a record to citation management software (RefWorks, EasyBib, EndNote, Zotero, BibTeX, Citavi). For more information about working with citation management software see the Citation Management guide.

Records may also display Web of Science or Scopus citation counts, standard identifiers (ISBN, ISSN, DOI), and Altmetrics.

Access

Anyone, anywhere can use Articles+ to find citations. Access to full text is limited to the Yale community.
