Overdue Library Materials
Renewals
If you are a current student, staff or faculty member, the following options are available for renewal.
Yale Library Materials: Renew Yale Library materials using My Library Account.
Interlibrary Loan: Request a renewal by emailing smlill@yale.edu.
**Please note that all Borrow Direct materials must be returned.
Returns
If you are no longer at Yale University, we would like to ask that these materials are returned as soon as possible. Options for returns are as follows:
Return to a Yale Library bookdrop (Locations are available here)
Request a free shipping label (1 label for every 20lbs of books) through askyalelibrary@yale.edu. Include your name, preferred shipping address and number of labels requested.
All overdue and lost item fees will be removed when materials are returned.
Already Returned?
If you already returned your materials, please fill out this form. We will start an extensive search of the library to try to locate these items.
Yale University employed Visiting Scholars, Researchers and Post-Doctoral appointments are eligible for library borrowing privileges at no charge. These privileges vary depending on the appointment, which is set by the scholar's home department or college. All readers in this category are eligible for Yale ID cards, which is used to borrow materials and gain access to library facilities after 6pm. Please contact the Privileges Office for more information on your specific privileges.
Outside Researchers who hold a Yale University Fellowship appointment are eligible for full borrowing privileges at no charge. Privileges are granted for the length of the fellowship as determined by the host department or school. Researchers who are visiting Yale University under non-Yale fellowships are not eligible for privileges under this policy. Refer to the Visitor section of this guide for more information.

Readers in this category are normally eligible for a Yale ID card which also serves as the library borrowing card. Please visit the Yale ID center to get your card before using the library. Readers who are unable to secure a Yale ID card are encouraged to contact the Privileges Office at 203-432-1775 or askyale@gmail.com for assistance with library privileges.
