    Times Digital Archive

    • Life and Times of Jorge Luis Borges Digital Archive (Gale) Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) is considered by many scholars, critics and readers to be the greatest contemporary Spanish-American writer. The works of this acclaimed Argentine poet, essayist, novelist and short-story writer influenced thought, writing and creativity worldwide. Next to Cervantes, no other writer in the Spanish language has received as much scholarly attention.

The Life and Times of Jorge Luis Borges provides a detailed bibliographic tool to research the manuscripts and letters, books, periodicals, photographs, audio and video recordings, newspaper and magazine clippings, and other documents — written by Borges and about Borges. It is an unrivaled resource essential for every scholar and student of Spanish literature and culture.
    • Sunday Times Digital Archive - 1822 to 2006 (Gale) The Sunday Times launched itself on the world on 20th October 1822 , promising to instil "an invigorating spirit" in its readership, and uphold the freedom of the press against those "emperors, kings, and their ministers" who would stifle it. Since that first issue, the newspaper has consistently provided thoughtful analysis and commentary on the week`s news and society at large. Murder, theatre, sport and politics-all collide in its pages in an abundance of colourful detail.

In the nineteenth century, The Sunday Times had similar obsessions to much of the Victorian press, with extensive coverage of court cases, executions and grisly crimes to titillate its readers. However, it also developed a reputation for its considerable arts coverage, especially the London theatre and music scene.

In the twentieth century, the newspaper returned to its founding ethos of holding the powerful to account. In 1963, it formed the Insight Team, which became world famous for cutting-edge investigative journalism. The Insight Team broke many of the key stories of the twentieth century, including a decade-long campaign for the victims of thalidomide, the exposure of Kim Philby as a Soviet double agent (1st October 1967), and the revelations about the Israeli nuclear weapons programme (5th October 1986). Articles from the Insight Team have been categorized with the label "Insight" in the archive.

Despite the similarity of names, The Sunday Times was an entirely separate paper from The Times until 1st January 1967, when both papers came under the common ownership of Times Newspapers Ltd. To this day, The Sunday Times remains editorially independent from The Times, with its own remit and perspective on the news.

In more than 600,000 pages, The Sunday Times Digital Archive is a gateway to the greatest crimes, careers and culture of the last 180 years.
