WorldCat Search

WorldCat is one of the best resources you can use to find e-books and other electronic and print items.  By conducting your search in WorldCat you are accessing over 10,000 library catalogs all at the same time!  Look for the "Find a copy online" section near the top of an item's record.

Searching WorldCat

Searching WorldCat is just like searching in any other online catalog.  There are both basic and advanced search options, as well as the option to sign in and create an account.

Basic Search

Here you can enter keywords, phrases, titles or authors, as well as take advantage of using AND/OR to link terms together.  There is also the option in the Basic Search to limit the search to Everything, Books, DVDs, CDs or Articles

Advanced Search

Advanced Search allows you to enter up to 3 search terms or phrases, and identify a specific field for each term including Author, Keyword, Subject and Title.  Below the three search boxes are a range of options allowing you to narrow your search even further.  Here you can enter a publication year range, select a specific audience, specify a content or format type, as well as select a language.  Don’t forget about the facets on your search results page to further refine your search, as well as the subject headings that appear in the item records.
