S&P Capital IQ provides profiles and data on public and private companies, markets, investment firms, transactions, and people worldwide.

Also features information on industries, capital structure, fixed income, corporate family tree data, and company-level ownership. 

License Terms

• Capital IQ is available to students, faculty, researchers, and staff for non-commercial academic research. 
• By creating an account using your @yale.edu email address, you agree to not license, sublicense, transfer, sell, resell, publish, reproduce, and/or otherwise redistribute these materials or knowingly provide access to this content to non-authorized users.
• Sharing of usernames and passwords is prohibited.
• Data downloaded to desktops/computing devices is intended for personal use and should not be shared or stored in directories/systems that may be accessed by others.

To register for an account, you will need to be on the Yale network (Yale Secure WiFi while on campus, VPN if off-campus)

Once your account is established, you can log in with your username and password at https://www.capitaliq.com while on the Yale network.

Note: To use Capital IQ while off-campus, you will need to connect to the Yale network via VPN. Learn more about the Yale VPN here. 

Excel Plug-in

Yale researchers with a Capital IQ account can download and install the Excel Plug-in. Instructions are available here.  

For Mac users: the Excel Plug-in is installed on select machines in Marx Library. More information is available here.
