Access to Electronic Resources at Yale

The use of Yale’s e-resources (e-journals, e-books, data sets, databases, etc.) is limited by licensing agreements to persons affiliated with Yale University.

Non-Yale Fellows and longer-term researchers on-site at the Lewis Walpole Library have access through the secure wifi connection available once your device is registered on the network (Reading Room staff will do this when you arrive). This is true of the connections in the Root House as well.

Off-campus access

  • EZProxy: Access to most library licensed e-resources is through a service called EZProxy..If you are coming from a Yale network location, you will not be prompted to authenticate. If you are coming from a network location outside of Yale, the prefix will prompt you to authenticate.
  • VPN The Yale VPN, (virtual private network), allows individuals to securely access Yale resources from off campus.
  • Lean Library Access tool: Designed specifically for off-campus use, the Lean Library Access tool enables users to bypass possible dead-ends or paywalls by connecting them directly with Yale’s subscribed e-collections

Welcome

This guide provides links to selected electronic resources particularly relevant to researchers working on Britain and its world in the long eighteenth century.

Most are subscription databases available only to members of the Yale community. Some are websites freely available over the internet.

Not included in this guide are print resources.
