This course guide is for students registered for the course America at 250: A History (HIST 1122, DEVN 2000), the 2025 DeVane Lectures, offered during Fall Term 2025 at Yale University by Professors Joanne Freeman, David Blight, and Beverly Gage.

This guide provides assistance for the Archives Assignment, which students must complete in one of the three segments into which the course is divided. This guide contains a separate tab for each three-week segment of the course. Each tab indicates the due date for the assignment and a list of the collection material that is on Course Reserve in one of two Yale Library special collections reading rooms.

Collection material (individual items or entire archival boxes) will be on Course Reserve for each segment of the course for the date range indicated on that segment's tab. Collection material for a segment will no longer be on Course Reserve after the assignment due date for that segment of the course. 

You do not need to request anything in advance for this assignment!
