In many cases, other institutions, researchers, or archivists may already be working to preserve web resources and datasets as part of collective preservation efforts. Participating in these efforts can be more effective than individually preserving copies. We recommend that researchers attempt to identify a collective effort to join or propose a URL to before striking out on their own.

The Data Rescue Project maintains an ongoing list of data preservation efforts in early 2025.
