Research organization and citation tools for ANTH303: Remote Access

How to access library e-resources when off campus

To seamlessly access online resources from Yale Library, always start your research at the Library website, library.yale.edu. Through the website, links will prompt Yale users to log in with their NetID and password, without paywalls.

  • Remote access requires Yale authorized users to authenticate through Yale's multifactor authentication (DUO).
  • Some resources have alternative methods of access, such as through VPN, and instructions will be provided.

If a library-provided link fails to provide access, you can:

Best Practices to Find Online Books and Articles

1. Find online books using Quicksearch > Books

  • From the filters on the left, select "Online"

2. Online articles (scholarly articles, newspapers, magazines) using Articles+

  • Articles+ is a single search for almost all of Yale Library's article subscriptions.
  • To ensure your results are available, select "Full Text Online" from the filters on the left. Your results will now be limited to only content that you can download immediately. Leave this box unchecked if you are okay finding "citation only" results that may require Interlibrary Loan requests (which take up to 4-14 days to receive).

3. Databases (i.e.: JSTOR, ScienceDirect, ProQuest) using Quicksearch > Databases

  • If you know the name of a database, search for it in Quicksearch to access the link "Online database"
  • By going directly to a database URL outside of Quicksearch, you will not connect to the version we have already paid for, and you will likely receive a request for payment.
