About FactSet

FactSet features comprehensive data and analytics on global financial and economic markets and companies.

Coverage includes:

  • Financial data on 70,000+ public and private companies worldwide, with historical coverage for developed markets dating back to the 1980s and for emerging markets starting in the 1990s
  • Close to 2,000 historical financial metrics data items for 70+ countries
  • Historical financial data on 5,000 global indices, as well as fixed income, commodities, alternative investments markets and more

Campus-wide access to FactSet for academic & noncommercial use by students & faculty has been made possible by the Yale School of Management. 

Accessing FactSet

Students

Undergraduate and Master's students at Yale are eligible for FactSet web access, which provides access to the platform in a flexible, easy-to-use, web-based environment. 

Step 1: Register

  • To get started with FactSet, new users must register and create an individual account using a yale.edu email address at https://advantage.factset.com/academic_idrequest.
  • Upon completion of the registration form, ID requests are typically processed by FactSet within 7 - 10 business days. You will receive an email directly from FactSet confirming your registration and with login information.

Step 2: Log in

Registered users can log in at https://my.factset.com

Faculty and Ph.D. Students

Yale Faculty and Ph.D. Students are eligible for access to FactSet web access and the installed FactSet Workstation client with the Excel Add-In.

  • New users should register and create an individual account using a yale.edu email address at https://advantage.factset.com/academic_idrequest.
  • Information on installing the workstation software will be provided to you from FactSet directly. If you do not receive these instructions, in your welcome email, reply to the confirmation email and specifically request workstation access. 

Using FactSet

For help getting started FactSet, new users can use the following options:

  • Refer to the FactSet QuickStart Guide.
  • Use the FactSet Learning Modules, featuring eLearning courses that can help you learn FactSet at your own pace
    • Click on the Learning tab – located in the upper-left corner of the FactSet desktop.

  • For help with a specific function, try the Online Assistant:
    • Look for the ? icon on the upper-right corner of the FactSet desktop

  • Contact the FactSet Help Desk at 1-877-FACTSET (available 24/7)
