Apocryphal letters of the Prophet.
Inserted is an ALS (2 leaves) by Dr. Henry A. DeForest, Rochester, N.Y., December 11, [18]57, to Edward E. Salisbury, stating that the manuscript was copied at Baghdad for Dr. Lobdell, from a copy of a private edition struck off at Istanbul in A.H. 1264 (A.D. 1848).

The first text in this volume was extracted from a book obtained by the Rev. Eli Smith from Mekhaîl Meshâka of Damascus. The second text was obtained through the courtesy of Louis von Wildenbruch, Prussian Consul General of Syria (died before Oct. 25, 1849), whose dragoman, Mr. Catafago, found it near Aleppo. The third text was also obtained through von Wildenbruch.
