Undergrads can use all Yale libraries!
Undergraduates can use any Yale library, including the Medical, Arts and Law libraries! For complete list of libraries and hours, visit the Buildings and Hours page. Check out a list of places to study here.
Book Circulation
A student can check out a book for 2 months at most Yale libraries, with a few exceptions. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors can check up to 100 books while seniors can check out 150 books at a time. Your Yale ID will serve as a library card to check out books and media equipment. Media equipment (cameras, projectors, etc. is available at the Bass Circulation Desk and must be reserved ahead of time using the CLC reservations app.
Explore and Study in the Sterling Bookstacks!
Students are more than welcome to study and search for books in the Stacks. In addition to bookshelves, the Sterling bookstacks also have reading rooms, group/individual study rooms. You can also reserve group study rooms. To reserve rooms and check out a list of places to study, visit this website.
How Materials Are Organized
Most of the materials are organized by subject (Library of Congress), but some items in Sterling are classified through old Yale, which are also by subject. For more help, check out the Sterling Memorial Library Stack guide.
