Canadian History: Quebec

Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)

The Provincial archives of Quebec is probably the best repository of primary source material on French Canada and well worth a visit for students able to travel for research.  For those unable to travel to Quebec for research, however, the Bibliotheque Archives Nationales du Quebec has made an astounding number of digitized sources available through their website, including Muncipal Directories, Court Records, postcards, personal manuscript collections, and a large number of newspaper and periodical collections.  You can find the digital collections under the "digtial collection" section of the library's webpage.

Some important parts of the BAnQ digital collections include a portal to 180 newspaper titles, the Lovell directories of Montreal and its suburbs from 1842-2010, and over 50,000 scanned images
