Collections Outside of Yale

Samuel J. May Antislavery Collection (Cornell)      Numbering over 10,000 titles, May's pamphlets and leaflets document the anti-slavery struggle at the local, regional, and national levels.  Sermons, position papers, offprints, local Anti-Slavery Society newsletters, poetry anthologies, freedmen's testimonies, broadsides, and Anti-Slavery Fair keepsakes all document the social and political implications of the abolitionist movement.

Welcome & Description

This webpage is a guide to collections available at the Yale University Library that support research and teaching in Caribbean Studies and the Atlantic World.  This guide is a work-in-progress and will grow over the course of the 2009-10 academic year.   The goal will be to provide a robust research tool for what is a burgeoning area of scholarly inquiry.  For a quick look at the range of materials at Yale that support this area of research, click on the sample library catalog searches in the left hand box or browse the sample collections using the tabs above.

Please help develop this guide by e-mailing Greg Eow, Kaplanoff Librarian for American History with suggested additions.
