Aeon Documentation for Yale Special Collections: Home

This guide provides information for Yale special collections staff members who are using Aeon to register patrons and provide assistance to patrons with their Aeon accounts.

Home

Yale Special Collections (Yale Library and Yale Center for British Art) has implemented the use of Aeon, a circulation and workflow automation solution for special collections libraries developed by Atlas Systems, to

  • register researchers for Yale Special Collections reading rooms and photoduplication (a.k.a. digital copy) requests;
  • request special collections materials for use in the reading rooms and Activities, as well as photoduplication;
  • track materials and their circulation;
  • manage Activities such as use of collection materials in classes and other presentations, conservation, photography, loans, exhibitions, and more; and
  • record statistics.

This guide is intended to provide Yale Special Collections staff with information on using and troubleshooting Aeon. More can be done in and with Aeon than will be covered in this guide. Several work groups maintain locally specific documentation on Aeon use; check with your supervisor to see if this exists in your area.

There is also a public-facing Using Special Collections guide for patrons.

SCPSAG

The Special Collections Public Services Advisory Group (SCPSAG) is the product owner for Aeon.  They are charged with:

implementing policies and procedures relating to Aeon, an automated request and workflow management software for public services in special collections.
