There is one multifunction printer located opposite the circulation desk to the left of the main entrance. Two more are located on the basement level on either side of the Information desk. An additional multifunction printer is located in the 24/7 Computing and Study Space.
Large scale scanning and copying is also available on the 2 multifunction copiers within the basement level journal stacks. 8.5” x 11” paper is the same cost as the printers. Selecting the 11” x 17” paper option will cost $.15 per page.
Free flatbed scanners are available in both the Information Room and the Computer & Study Space. These scanners require a NetID to utilize.
To print at the Yale Medical Library, patrons must have a PaperCut account. For most users this account will be their NetID. At the printers, patrons can either use their Yale ID to login or choose to type in their NetID and password using the touch keypad. Visitors must create a PrintID and password. Detailed information on PaperCut and BluePrint may be found here: http://ypps.yale.edu/blueprint-programs
Creating a print account
Visitors can create a guest print account at the PaperCut website:
https://paperc-prd-app1.its.yale.edu:9192/user
We have no means to recover a lost password, so please remind patrons to write down their log in information.
All guest created accounts have the prefix Guest- before the chosen username
Adding funds to a print account
If a patron wishes to pay by cash or check then they must visit the YPPS Lobby at 344 Winchester Avenue during its business hours. The PaperCut website takes credit/debit cards and can be accessed at https://yppsweb1.its.yale.edu/ypps/blueprint/papercut/caslogin.asp?app=addfunds
This website can also be accessed by clicking the ‘Add Funds’ link on the PaperCut balance screen pictured earlier.
The minimum amount that may be purchased is $5.00 plus tax
To Print from Yale PCs
1. Send the print job by clicking Print on the document file. Please be sure to note that there is the choice of a black/white or a color printer. Printing defaults to double-sided. If patron wants single-sided printing, he or she needs to change the printing preferences before sending the print job.
2. If the patron has not already logged on to their PaperCut account when sitting down at the computer, they will be prompted with a popup to log in and set the duration of time they wish to remain logged in.
3. Go to a printer and have the patron log by either using the card reader attached to the printer, or logging in with their NetID/Username and password.
4. A list of print jobs will appear in the queue and the funds available in your account. Highlight the print job: it will display the user name, the name of the print job, the number of pages, and how much it will cost to print.
5. Once the print job is selected, press “PRINT” on the touchpad screen.
To Print from a Personal Computer
1. Personal computers can be used to print to Yale Medical library network printers once the patron has installed the PaperCut software on to their device
2. Please direct patrons to this website and have them follow the instructions for their operating system http://ypps.yale.edu/blueprint-programs
3. Once installed the patron can print by selecting our PaperCut BW or Color printer and releasing the job. Documents sent from personal computers will print automatically without the need to log in at the printer.

Funds
Yale University Medical students have funds uploaded into their PaperCut accounts during their school semesters. If a student believes there is an issue with these funds, please have them contact the Operations Manager, Sonali Banerjee at 203-785-6719 or sonali.banerjee@yale.edu.
If any patron experiences difficulty with printing and requires a refund please have them navigate to the BluePrint website and fill in the online request a refund form https://yppsweb1.its.yale.edu/ypps/blueprint/papercut/refund.asp
Printer maintenance and Troubleshooting
There are students from Cluster Support who will assist in monitoring the printers for paper, toner, and error messages. Certain staff members will also receive automatic notices when there is a printer issue, but please tend to such things promptly to ensure we keep our equipment in working order.
Replacement paper and toner for the copiers can be located in the bottom shelf below the printers. Additional paper can be found in the Cluster Support supply cabinet on the basement level of the library (passcode 1337), within the journal stacks. When you replace a toner, please make sure to remove the protective strip on the cartridge. Once the toner has been replaced, please ask the Administrative Assistant to order a new toner and provide them with the Model number of the printer. The old toner can be placed on the table within the Administration Office for recycling.
If a printer is displaying an error message, continuously getting paper jams, or having issues with print quality please contact Ricoh at 888-456-6457 and fill in the Printer Log located at the circulation desk. If necessary, shut down the malfunctioning printer and place an Out of Order sign on it until the issue can be resolved.
If jobs are not being received by printers, they continuous print one job, or other issues not related to the hardware of the machines themselves, please contact Yale Printing & Publishing Services at 203-432-6560 or yppssupport@yale.edu.
If a patron is having difficulties printing a PDF, but the printers are otherwise working fine
1. Select the print button for the PDF
2. Click on the ‘Advanced’ button from the print menu
3. In this last pop up make sure to put a checkmark in ‘Print as Image’
