The Yale School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as a provider of continuing medical education. The school offers a variety of continuing education programs directed both at practicing physicians and at physicians whose interest is in the basic sciences.

The ACCME's mission is the identification, development, and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education (CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and their communities.

CSMS is authorized by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to accredit healthcare facilities and medical professional groups in Connecticut and contiguous states as sponsors of certified CME. The CSMS CME Committee is responsible for the oversight of CSMS Accreditation and serves as the authorizing body to accredit CME sponsors.
