Approval Plans

Approval Plans - What are they?

Approval plans are vendor supplied materials or slip notifications sent to libraries automatically. Materials sent are based on pre-determined criteria listed in the plan’s profile.

Approval Plan Criteria and how vendors profile ppt

GOBI/YBP approval profiles can be found at http://www.gobi3.com/.

Our other main approval plan profiles can be found on SharePoint under Approval Plan Profiles

Approval profiles can also be found on the individual vendors online ordering sites. Profiles contain subject and non-subject parameters

Approval Funds

US, UK, and Western European approval plan funds are in the Approval Plan Ledger and most of the allocations come from the general Book Pool award.

Most area collections approval plans are paid out of the selector's individual funds. It is the responsibility of the selector to monitor the fund balances, and to notify Monographic Processing Services staff of fund changes as the fiscal year progresses.

Fund review is done through the Voyager fund reports in Tableau. These reports are updated each Monday am.

YUL will acquire several eBook frontlist and series packages in FY23. In accordance with the library's e-preferred eBook policy, print is blocked on all GOBI approval profiles for the following publishers and series. We will continue to receive Yale author publications in print for all publishers.

EPOOL Funded Resources

The EPOOL ledger and funds were created in Voyager in FY14, to more efficiently and effectively manage e-resource subscriptions for large, multidisciplinary journal and e-book packages; general and multidisciplinary databases; multiple products from major vendors and publishers; maintenance fees for perpetual access purchases; and tools of broad interest, such as citation management software and GIS software.

EPOOL funds are centrally managed by the Central Collection Development Librarian in consultation with the Collection Steering Committee.

Each spring semester, subject specialists are invited to nominate new or currently subscribed resources for inclusion in EPOOL. Nominations are reviewed and decided upon by the Collection Steering Committee.
