ENGL 375: Wayward Lines: Black Feminist Literature and Theory: Searching for Articles

A library research guide for English 375: Wayward Lines--Black Feminist Literature and Theory

Before beginning your article search

  • Articles cannot be accessed directly via the Yale Library catalog.
  • Searching for articles via databases entails knowing what kind of database one is using. Some platforms like JSTOR and Project Muse aggregate many different journals and provide direct links to them.
  • Some databases, especially bibliographies like the MLA Bibliography or Oxford Bibliographies, will give you a citation for an article. Sometimes there is a direct link to the article via YaleLinks. Sometimes, you will have to look up the journal in which the article is found in the library catalog.
  • If looking up a journal in the Yale Library catalog, again note the options for access; some journals may be available online and some may be available in print. Some journals may have certain issues available online and certain issues available in print.
  • Ask for help if you are having a hard time accessing an article or journal!
