South Asian Resources at Yale Library: Welcome

A summary of Yale University Library's South Asia Collection, which includes material from and about Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Himalayan region, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

South Asia

Mahabharata, 1850. Persian MSS +94, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Libary

This Guide is intended to give a wide reaching introduction to the South Asian Studies collection at Yale University, as well as offer some important advice for new adn experienced researchers alike. South Asia generally includes the following:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka

But this short list cannot do justice to the diversity of peoples, languages, communities, religions, and histories that connect and interact throughout this region. Rather than present a comprehensive picture of the region, my goal here is to introduce students, faculty, and other researchers to the various types of materials we have available on the region as well as give you a sense of the major directions and questions in the field.

You can find information on how to search the library, language resources, data and statistics, web resources, current events from or about South Asia; plus more general help on how to use the library.

For more detailed and specific information, email me for a consultation, or see the following subject specific LibGuides.
