Artist Biography

Photograph of Tim CarpenterTim Carpenter (1986) is a photographer and writer who works in Brooklyn and central Illinois. After studying finance and law, Carpenter began professionally pursuing photography in 2008. He earned his MFA in 2012 from the Hartford Art School. In 2015 he co-founded TIS Books, an independent photobook publisher. Carpenter also serves as an instructor for the Penumbra Foundation's Photobook program. His photographs often focus on natural and man-made exterior spaces.
