Xin Liu (1991) is an artist and engineer who splits her time between London and New York City. She is originally from Karamay, located in the northern Uighur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, in northwestern China. She studied Measurement, Control Technology, and Instruments at Tsinghua University. Then, Liu moved to the United States to earn her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master’s degree in media arts and sciences from MIT Media Lab. Her recent research and interest center around the verticality of space, extraterrestrial explorations, and cosmic metabolism: the metabolism of our planet and how it has been affected by technological infrastructures in the past few decades.
