Tips, suggestions, templates and best practices for creating libguides

Welcome to the Guidelines for Creating/Revising Research Guides

Consistency within and across our research guides is key in making a good user-focused experience. This guide provides templates, guidelines, and resources to help you create user-friendly guides.  We hope it will help make it easier and faster to create and revise research guide content and instructional activities.

Your first step should be to decide the purpose and  target audience of the guide. After that you can start planning it and then creating it!

Use a LibGuide to provide:

  • Research guidance for a particular Yale course;
  • Instructions on how to research a definable and specific subject;
  • Local documentation for a specific research tool or service; or
  • Instructions on accessing and using specific Yale collections or resources.
