Templates and ready-made boxes
There is a need for someone to be able to write or adapt guides for general purpose things like using eBooks, finding images, and other tasks.
Who is going to maintain the ready-made boxes going forward?
"General Research Tools" would be helpful
Create search boxes for
- Orbis (already in LibGuides v1)
- Database A-Z list
- eJournal titles
- JSTOR
- Sociological Abstracts
- Quicksearch
- AskYale (already in LibGuides v1)
- Google Scholar
- HathiTrust
- Oxford Reference
- Finding Aids (already in LibGuides v1)
- Personal Librarian Lookup (covers Divinity as well)
List from 2/20/2015
- Good list except:
- Chicago Manual of Style
- Video Support for Screencast Snippets
- NIH public access for Medical
- Research Impact for Medical and Marx Library
- Put together a list of links (not a box that people would import, just links) with
- Public access for Medical
- Research Impact for Medical and Marx Library
- Point to Purdue OWL for citation information
- Link to the writing center (as above)
- Citation management should go to Citation Management LibGuide
- How to find a book
- Should we ask our users which boxes would be most helpful? Maybe a survey?
Generally speaking, should things that should not be edited be in PDF format (instead of Word)? Yes.
From 2/25/2015
- Most of the information requires that someone write a LibGuide. Who has the time to do this?
- How to use eBooks would be great. eBooks @ Yale overview
- We don't have anyone whose responsiblity is creating general purpose content like how to search eBooks
- UW Madison has them
We'll need instructions on how to use the boxes
